Is Asthma Serious ? The reality shows it… but the paradox is that we are not aware of it.
Is asthma serious ? Yes ! Asthma is a serious condition, however it is not percieved as such.
In this study that concerns 8000 patients in Europe, surprising numbers are opposed :
According to GINA (The Global Initiative for Asthma) criteria, 83 % of the patients suffering from asthma are not or partially controlled,
9 patients out of 10 think their asthma is under control.
12 % of the patients were admitted at the hospital for asthma attack in the last 12 months,
84 % of the interviewed persons suffering from asthma think it is not really serious or even not serious at all.
1 patient out of 3 needed to stop going to work for at least 1 day because of his/her asthma condition in the last 12 months,
76 % of the patients do not feal really concerned about their condition.
AS A RESULT :
50 % of the patients confess that they are not taking their treatment against asthma every day …
and we may ask ourselves : how many does not admit it ?!?
